Communities In Schools (CIS) of Wayne County is a nonprofit organization that works to provide a network of support for WCPS students by surrounding them with volunteers, mentors, and community-based resources. “The mission of Communities In Schools is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.” CIS Success Coaches work in six of our schools to assist students individually as they establish goals in the areas of academics, behavior, attendance, and career setting. Success Coaches also serve as a part of the school team to assist in recruiting tutors/mentors to work with students. Success Coaches are placed in the following schools: Goldsboro High School, Southern Wayne High School, Brogden Middle, Mount Olive Middle, Spring Creek Middle, and Grantham School. CIS of Wayne also works with other organizations and businesses throughout the community to provide school supplies and book donations to students annually. CIS of Wayne also operates the Teen Court Program. To learn more about CIS, the Teen Court Program, or how to volunteer for any of these programs, click here.
